Information

Kensington Stables, located near the southwest corner of Brooklyn's beautiful Prospect Park, is New York City's friendliest, most accessible, and most affordable riding stable.

We offer a complete range of equestrian activities and services, including lessons, guided trail rides, and pony rides.

Kensington Stables is the only remaining stable on Prospect Park. The barn was built in 1930 as the last extention of the riding academy at 11 Ocean Parkway, 57 Caton Place (1917). The first extention was torn down to make the foot bridge over Ocean Parkway. The original riding academy closed in 1937 and is now a warehouse.

We also have exclusive use of The Shoe in Prospect Park for lessons, accessible via the Park's bridle path, which runs from Park Circle to the southwest corner of the Long Meadow. We are also renovating our indoor ring, which should be finished by December 2006.

Thanks for visiting our site, and we hope to see you at the Stable soon!

Trail Rides in Prospect Park

Beautiful Prospect Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who were also responsible for Manhattan's Central Park. There's no better way to see the features of the park than from horseback!

Kensington Stables leads trail rides in Prospect Park for all levels or rider. You can choose to ride either English or Western style. And depending on rider experience, the rides may include walking, trotting, and cantering.

If desired, your guide can provide a bit of history with your ride, pointing out some of the significant features of the historic park.

An hour's ride is $30 per person (effective Sept 30, 2006), and advanced reservations are advised.

Please ring the stable directly to arrange a time to ride.
